#1:  The American Revolution:   After a long attempt at making peace with their mother country, Great Britain (England), the 13 colonies in North America, collectively declared their independence, marked by their drafting of a Declaration of Independence in 1776. After fighting a war on the North American continent that resulted in a victory for these colonies, a new country- the United States of America- was formed, leading to the drafting of a United States Constitution that commenced in 1789. The war with Great Britain and the stages that preceded it are known as The American Revolution. Click here to read more about it.
